GPS Data – Coordinates & Speed 1.4.1

GPS Data provides comprehensive location information from your device, including GPS and compass data. The app is available on both iOS and watchOS platforms.

On iOS, GPS Data presents location details in an easily accessible list format. The app displays the following information:

• Current time
• Time since last update
• Accuracy of readings
• Latitude & Longitude coordinates (decimal degrees and degrees/minutes/seconds)
• Elevation (meters and feet above sea level)
• Speed (meters and feet per second, kilometers and miles per hour, and knots)
• Device direction (degrees true and degrees magnetic)
• Direction of device movement (degrees true)
• Local air pressure (hectopascals and inches of mercury)
• Vertical speed (meters per second and feet per minute)

In addition, on iOS, you have the option to expand any altitude, speed, or direction value into a larger, full-screen display for convenient monitoring while on the move. To switch between local time and UTC, simply tap the clock. Similarly, tapping the coordinates allows you to swap between different unit measurements.

GPS Data also offers the ability to generate a textual representation of your precise location. This feature enables you to easily share your location via Messages, Mail, or other compatible apps.

On watchOS, GPS Data includes the following features:

• Elevation (meters and feet above sea level)
• Speed (meters and feet per second, kilometers and miles per hour, and knots)
• Direction of device movement (degrees true)
• Latitude & Longitude coordinates (decimal degrees and degrees/minutes/seconds)

If you are using an Apple Watch without built-in GPS, the app utilizes the paired iPhone for GPS information. However, if the paired iPhone is unavailable, Apple Watch with built-in GPS will use its internal GPS instead.

Privacy and battery consumption concerns are addressed by GPS Data. The app only requests to use Location Services while in use, ensuring minimal impact on privacy and battery life.

For iOS devices without GPS capabilities, such as iPad Wi-Fi models and iPod Touch, GPS Data calculates location data based on nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Although less accurate than GPS, this still provides location information. On iOS devices that lack an onboard barometer, local air pressure readings will be unavailable, and vertical speed calculations will rely on GPS location rather than pressure changes.
